Absolutely Essential Information!

As with any business endeavor, there are many ways to promote your web site. It is essential that you use your URL and e-mail address in all of your print advertising, on letterheads, labels, receipts etc.  Begin compiling a mailing list of the e-mail addresses of your clients or potential clients. Even if you have never used mailings in business before, the fact that you can send e-mail free and fast make it worth doing. You must take care not to send "spam". Spam is unsolicited bulk e-mail and is against the terms of service on almost every server. Your web site will be removed from our server, and from most others, if you send unsolicited bulk e-mail, even if you send it from a different server. You must have interested parties who agree to receive mail, make up your mailing list.

When we talk about promoting your web site, what we are focusing on is promoting it on the Internet, so that it can be found by those who are surfing the web, or using search engines to find pages of interest to them.

Successful web site promotion is far more complex than the building of web sites is, and generally takes much more time. Whether you are doing your own site, or having us do it for you, there are a few essentials you need to know about.  We mention issues you need to take into consideration on the "Process Page".  Here are some other things you need to be aware of:

Successful web promotion does not, and can not, begin after your site is finished. In recent months there have been many articles about the use of Meta Tags, and how they will help in your search engine listings. While it is true that they do help (on certain search engines), they are only one small part of the criteria the search engines use to list your pages. How your site is put together and how the HTML coding is done will have a major influence on how you will come up in the search engine listings and on how well your other efforts at promotion will work.

Cybergalleries.com has re-created many beautiful sites (and some not so beautiful) that were designed by graphic artists,   site owners, neighbors, relatives and even by expensive web design firms. They needed to be re-created because although in many cases they looked great, they did not work. If you do not know how web promotion works, how the search engines list sites, and what criteria they use, you will have no way of knowing if your site will work or not. It may load fast, the links may all work, the pictures may look great, but if it is not found on the web, the site is not working for you.

Hiring a company that specializes in web site promotion is generally too expensive for small businesses starting out on the web. What we do on all sites that we create, is combine the most effective and least time consuming aspects of promotion that will capitalize on the criteria common to the major search engines.

Every site we build includes:

  • Market Research
To determine what is working for your competitors on the web.

  • Five Major Elements
known to help in positioning your search engine listings. Meta Tags are one of these elements.

  • Search Engine Registration
Your site, and specific pages of your site, that will be best for helping your positioning will be individually registered with the eight major search engines, along with a couple hundred not-so-major search engines and directories.

  • Additional Free Advertising on our Community or Network Sites
Cybergalleries.com currently maintains more than 25 "community" sites, designed expressly for promoting businesses and organizations connected with that particular community. These sites include local communities, such as counties and other geographic areas, and also "Network" sites for promoting specific types of businesses and organizations. These include Art, Pets, Health, Wholesale and Gem/Jewelry related sites. Our list is continually growing.  Each of these sites promotes a banner exchange   for member sites and also allows for advertising space exclusively for cybergalleries.com clients. If your site fits into one of our existing categories, we will promote your site within that community.
